5 Easy Steps to Determine Your Financial Status So You Can Break Free of Your Job Sooner

Before you walk away from your job to work full-time from home, one of the most critical pieces of information you need to know is how financially stable you are and how long you will be able to survive without a weekly pay check.

Here are 5 easy steps to help you plan wisely.

It doesn't have to be unpleasant or messy, but it does have to be done. You may be well on your way to building a full-time home-based business or may just be tossing the idea around right now, but having a clear understanding of your current and future financial commitments will play a MAJOR role in your strategic plan for business success.

Home-based business owners don't normally wake up one day and say, "Yep. I'm quitting my job today and starting a home-based business." There is usually a period of time for contemplation, exploration, making the decision, creating a plan, and then starting to execute steps within the plan to achieve the final goal.

The process can take anywhere from several months to several years before an employee is in a position to walk away from her job to begin life as a full-time entrepreneur.

Being financially responsible is critical to not only home-based business success, but to create the financial cushion required to transition from being an employee to a full-time entrepreneur.

Understanding your current financial position is mandatory and doesn't have to take more than an hour of your time if you follow the five basic steps below.

1. Calculate how much money you currently have sitting in bank accounts, investments, registered retirement savings plans, GIC's, real estate, etc. If you were to leave your job today, would there be any form of payout (ie. sick plan credit, pension plan contributions, unused holidays, anniversary pay, etc.)?

2. Determine how much you earn on a monthly basis either through employment, child support payments, rental properties, dividends, your existing home-based business, etc.

3. Record your monthly household expenses. Some examples to get you started are:

- mortgage/rent
- property tax/house and mortgage insurance
- utilities (heat/water/hydro)
- phone/cable/satellite/Internet
- yard maintenance/snow removal
- groceries and household supplies
- vehicle fuel, insurance and maintenance costs
- medical
- child care
- personal care (hair/nails/clothing)
- entertainment (movies/sports/books/plays)
- club memberships, publications, etc.

4. List your monthly business expenses, for example:

- Internet
- phone (separate business line)
- autoresponder
- shopping cart
- long distance
- bank fees
- office supplies
- tools
- web hosting
- marketing
- advertising
- part-time help
- coaching services
- shipping/postage, etc.

5. Identify your outstanding liabilities such as:

- credit card balances
- personal loans
- lines of credit, etc.
When you calculate your earnings and revenue on an annual basis and deduct your personal and business expenses. How much do you have remaining at the end of the year? Can a portion of this be put aside to build your financial cushion?

If your current business revenue isn't enough to cover your business and personal expenses and if you were to quit work today, how long would you be able to survive on your other revenue sources or savings and assets, taking into account your monthly expenses?

Have you considered all unexpected expenditures that could arise in the next year or two?

Is your car running on its last two cylinders?
Has your furnace almost reached its life expectancy?
Is your vacuum cleaner starting to growl at you?
Is your partner's job secure or do you foresee unstable times ahead?

This exercise is by no means intended to scare or discourage. Financial stability is an area that needs to be addressed so you can keep your feet firmly planted and plans realistic as you build your home-based business.

Understanding where you are and what potentially lies ahead will help you make sound financial decisions as you plan your future.

After completing these five steps, you may realize your dream to break free of your job might take a year longer than expected, or you may learn that in order to move forward at a quicker pace, you may have to bring in a partner or investor, or learn to leverage your time, money and effort more efficiently to expedite progress.

Perhaps seeking professional guidance on reducing debt and managing finances is in order?

No matter what results you generate, don't let them shake your spirit. Knowing exactly where you are financially will help you make informed, practical decisions so you can create your ideal future.

To increase your level of success at home-based business, make sure you have a financial advisor and accountant as part of your success team.

Can Your Behavioral Style Impact The Success Or Failure Of Your Home Based Business?

home based business tips
Are you a risk taker? Do you like to interact with customers? Are you the type of entrepreneur who likes to work on group projects in collaboration with others? Or do you prefer to work alone analyzing detailed work?

A lot of questions, but if you are going to be successful in your home based business, the answers could be critical to your success!

Understanding your behavioral style can help you succeed in your home based business, whether your work requires you to talk on the telephone with vendors, meet in person with customers, work with others to deliver your products or communicate over the Internet. Every style has strengths and limitations. And strengths if overused, can be weaknesses.

Most people have a primary behavioral style that is their natural approach to how they tend to respond or behave in certain situations. The DISC® model provides a quick and easy way for determining your behavioral style. Most people are unaware of their behavioral style, yet their close friends, family members and even co-workers can often tell what motivates them. Getting in touch with what motivates you as an entrepreneur and what motivates your customers is an important tool for a home-based business. It can impact your bottom line and provide direction in all that you do!

Here are the four behavioral styles: “D”- is the dominant or the risk taking style. If you are a “D” you are likely to prefer entrepreneurial pursuits where you can lead projects and present new ideas. You will have no trouble contacting the CEO of a major company and scheduling an appointment. You might have a tendency to be a bit heavy handed and if you’re not careful, you could chase some customers away. The “I” style is the people oriented style, motivated by recognition and interaction with others. If you are an “I” you will be great at marketing your business and persuading customers to buy your products. You may even get your foot in to door with a customer when your product or idea is not well thought out and this could cause you to lose a sale. The “S” is the Steadiness or team player style that tends to be cooperative and prefers to work in settings with others.

If you are an “S” style you will excel in projects that provide clear steps and processes that are sequential. You will do well with customers who like your dependability and you calming reassuring nature. You may be challenged with changes to your processes or your projects and you may have to work harder when responding to changes. If you are a “C”, you are analytical and logical.
You are reserved and business like in your demeanor and are quite comfortable working alone. Your customers will appreciate your attention to detail and the high quality of your work. You may
be challenged with in person meetings or criticism of your work and you will need to take care to meet customer deadlines.

Because most home based businesses are operated by sole proprietors or micro businesses, understanding your behavioral style is a quick and easy way to get real feedback that will forever change your business life! When you are in touch with your behavioral style you will learn what motivates you, become more aware of your own style preferences and biases, and understand how you react when you are frustrated or under stress. Moreover, you will be able to learn how to communicate more effectively to meet the style preferences of your customers, your business partners and your vendors.

So what style are you? What about your customers? If you have a home based business and or have a business that is operated primarily on the internet, it will be critical for you to adapt your ads and even your website, to appeal to the several behavioral styles mostly likely to be reflected in that environment.

Because most of us have a combination of styles, to determine your overall behavioral profile, you should take an online assessment. Once you learn your real style, you are in a much better position to gauge others and align your business accordingly.

Knowing your behavioral style and how your tendencies impact the way you conduct your home based business will be critical to your success or failure.

7 Tips How To Work At Home Successfully

So, you've decided to start a home based business. Congratulations! and welcome to the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship. While there is a lot to learn, your effort will be worth it. The thrill of growing your business, the freedom and flexibility to set your own hours, and the possibilities of ever-increasing financial rewards are all wonderful reasons to start your home based business.

Now that you've decided to start your business, you might be wondering "How can I get it off to the strongest possible start?"

These seven tips will help:

1) Set up a separate working space in your home.
It doesn't matter if this is a small bedroom, one part of the garage, or a corner of the living room. The important thing is to have some space that you can designate as your working area. This will give you the space and room you need to craft your dream.

2) Stock your working space with materials.
This sounds basic, perhaps, but one underlying element of success is that you have easy access to the tools, materials, and other resources you need. Gathering everything close by also keeps you from wasting time searching for it, so this step can be considered a time management strategy, too.

3) Speaking of time management, your third step is to define the parameters of your business.
What days and hours will you work? When will you market? When will you provide services or products to clients? How will you keep all of this straight?

4) Balance action with planning.
One of the most common pitfalls to successful entrepreneurship is getting too caught up in action without enough planning. Stated another way, this means that you confuse "being busy" with "working on important projects." The best approach is to plan your next couple of goals and then work backwards to create step by step action plans to reach them. Once you have the plan, then it's time to take the action.

5) Network like crazy.
One of the fastest ways to grow any business is to make connections with other people. Be sure to share your passion and enthusiasm with others at every opportunity. Let people know who you are and what you offer. Remember, people can't buy if they don't know you're selling.

6) Present a professional image.
If you want to be treated professionally, present a professional image. Set up a separate bank account for your business. Install a separate phone and fax line. Create professional marketing materials. Be courteous and pleasant in all your customer facing interactions. Basically, be someone people want to do business with.

7) Automate your business as much as possible.
Granted, you are just one person (right now) and might have a lot of extra time to take care of all the details. This might work for now, but won't work into the future as you get busier and busier. It's best to set up automatic systems and processes right from the start to free up your time to concentrate on the most profitable activities.

These seven tips will get your home business started (and growing) in the right direction.

Baby Boomers 5 Essential Things You Must Do Before Starting a Home Based Business

Don't quit your day job just yet. If you are a baby boomer looking to start a home based business, there are 5 essentials things you must do first.

Leaving the security of a job with an established 401(k) plan, health insurance or other benefits can create a real tug of war for baby boomers who want to pursue their dreams of owning their own business.

Analyze Your Exit Strategy
At the time of this writing, the youngest of the baby boomers are turning 42 and the oldest are turning 60. No matter where you fall into this group (and I am one of them), analyzing and preparing your exit strategy from your job will be crucial to your long-term success as a home business entrepreneur. Do you have adequate savings? If you're married, will you be able to participate in your spouse's health insurance?

Create a Financial Plan
How much is your salary now? What are your fixed, variable and frivolous expenses? Creating a solid plan so that you and your family will know exactly what the financial picture will be until your business gets off the ground and starts generating revenue.

Choosing a Business Model and Legal Entity
There are several business models to choose from; home party plans, consulting, and affiliate marketing to name a few. You have to make the decision based on your personality and what you are best-suited for. Choosing a legal entity for your business should be discussed with a tax accountant or your attorney. Options are sole proprietor, LLC or Subchapter S- Corp.

Set Business Benchmarks
You wouldn't travel across the country without a road map, your business is the same. Setting financial and business-building benchmarks will help you to create a focused plan that will help you to reach your success.

Get a Physical
What does getting a physical have to do with your business? Once you leave your job, most likely your health insurance will change and as unfair as it may be, trying to get new health insurance when in your 40's, 50's or 60's can be difficult. While pursuing your dreams of a home business is something you are probably very passionate about, if you do not have good health to enjoy the rewards of your efforts, then not much else is important.

The baby boomer generation is like no other before it or after it. Technically, we are considered middle-aged, but we are anything but middle-aged in mind, body and spirit. We know there is more meaning to life than a commute to an unrewarding 9-5 job, but there are also important steps we must take first. Planning and preparing for your home business now will lead to less headache's later on.

Home Based Business - Steps To Success

Ready to start your home based business?
Here's some facts that prevent most beginners from ever reaching that goal, and what you need to get started. The main question lies in the fact of whether you have what it takes to run a home based business?

Take the first steps now to starting your own business and get started right immediately.

The first rule is self motivation.
This is a key factor to getting started, so please don't pass it off. You must motivate yourself to take action in your life by redirecting and maintaining your attitude and ambition. What drives you to push yourself to the limit when the chance arises? Is it
your family, friends, certain environments, tight schedules, love, or maybe even the initial goal on everyone's mind... Money? Whatever thrives you the most is what you need to keep your mind set on during the initial setup. This is what can destroy a vast majority of new business owners during the preparation process. Don't ever lose sight on what is pushing your ambition to rise above.

Second is about attitude and confidence.
If you don't have a strong business attitude, then you will not survive in the business world. Be willing to do what it takes to succeed and don't make room for excuses. Excuses don't get the job done. If something needs to be initiated, or completed, then just do it and do it right. This is where confidence comes into play. You must be confident, but not preferably OVER-confident in your jouney to succeed. If you have absolutely no confidence in yourself, then get some fast. Everyone can have ambition to succeed given the correct incentive and measurements. Make your own destiny!

Don't wait for it to knock you down when you're not looking. You can take control and decide your fate for yourselves. Ambition is locked away in everyone's mind, so whatever it is you need to unlock that particular door, get it done. Clear your head from standard issues that will prevent you from succeeding for your future.

Now, set your mind to goal setting for a minute. What we want to do here is figure out what sort of goals you're looking to get out of life.

Where would you like to be right now?
How much money do you want to earn every week, month, or year?
Have you reached 50% of your goals yet?

This is a critical step in inspiration to push your agenda further than can be imagined. Imagine for a second that all of your bills are fully paid, but don't stop there.

Imagine all of your bills are paid for the next 5 years without a blink of an eye. Owning your own home, and maybe a beach house or two. Drive anything you want, because it didn't even chip your bank account to purchase it. Basically, how far do you want to go. Would this be considered greed? Absolutely! That is the reason for rapidly advancing technology, health-care drugs for longer survival and better health, and amazing opportunities that are available to the general public... which will also take us to the next step.

Money management is VERY important. If you cannot control your money, then you will need to learn better patience. Patience with money earned will keep you from losing it all, after it's been made. Control yourself, and control your money. Set your daily/weekly/monthly budget and enforce it! If you cannot control your funds now, then start today and write a strict budget. Keep your goals in mind always, so you don't make extravagant purchases that were not necessary. If you do reach high goals and use your money accordingly with investing, or other resources, then you will have plenty of time to "throw your money around". So, be sure your budget is set and let's move on to the next step.

Research, research, research! This is probably one of the MOST important steps that you are going to take in your business planning. Do your research thoroughly and make absolutely sure that your knowledge will cover everything you need to know. Information is the most valuable commodity and most everything you'll need to know can be easily obtained online right now. Find out exactly what you need to be happy in your life, and set your mind to it.

What do you have easy access to. There may be many things right under your nose, that you will kick yourself later for not thinking about it sooner. Find out what it is you enjoy. Don't always go with what your heart tells you in business, or you may not survive. Be truthful and realistic with yourself when deciding your business. Be sure that you WILL NOT LOSE MONEY. If you LOSE money from your business, then it's pointless to start in the first place.

Figure out what you want out of life. What is your primary goal? What type of schedule do you require? You can find the easy life, if you dig deep enough.

Do you have easy access to get started right now? Be sure that you know exactly what you are plunging yourself into. "Don't sink with a ship that has a near-sighted captain". What is the history of the businesses in the particular market that you're researching and what strategies were they using. You must find out whether the profit potential is endless? ...or does it have a cap-off point as well. How much time and work is it going to take to setup and ultimately operate?

Be sure to keep plenty of "you" time for yourself. You don't have to work 24 hours a day to achieve your goals. Residual income is the key to making effortless money and obtaining your rightful financial freedom. Make your business work for you, instead of the other way around. Remember, you are the driver.

You have the control to stop, go, and turn things around at any given point. You can start a business for less than a hundred dollars and turn it into a multi-million dollar success. So, do your research!

Now, we can move on to scheduling your business plan. Write it, or type it, and record it. This will take some time to think over and it definitely should. You should not rush this process by any means, since it will be YOU taking the action which will result in the overall consequences or rewards.

Figure out how much money you want to earn on a periodic basis, and be sure to set your goals into a progressive mode. Once you've reached this point, you will need to keep site of your goals and realize you are the ONLY one that is going to make the difference. Time is much too important to waste in any circumstances, so be very careful with your decision making performance. Always take care of your well-being. Your health always plays an important role when you are taking a new leap in life.

Take care for now and good luck finding your success!

Home Based Business - Learn The Cons And Prevention

If, like many of us, you're a home based business owner, you know that there are many hooks and crooks out there. If you're new at it or still thinking about opening a home based business then hear this! Con artists do exist in business and they will take your money if they can. So does that mean it's safer to not run a home based business? SAFER?

Are you looking for something safer? If you don't take chances you're not going to win. Abolutely not! You stand to make much better money working for yourself and you're sure to be much happier being your own boss. Like anything in this World, you just need to be aware of what's really going on in your business arrangements. Don't be naive and think that everybody is a nice person.

This is BUSINESS! The rules are *almost* 'there are no rules'. Most businesses are dependable and trustworthy. They value your long term opinion of them because they are fully aware of your potential ability to bring (or prevent) business for them in the future. A saying in business goes 'if you'll only do business with people that you trust then don't bother trying to do business'. Here are a few tips to help keep your eyes open.

1. Partners - business partners can range anywhere from your best friend to a financial supporter to a franchise business. When it comes to partnership arrangements in business, NEVER accept a word of mouth arrangement. Even if your partner is your very best friend, make sure that written legal agreements are drawn up that specify in detail the ownership, compensation and responsibilities of each party in the agreement. Make sure the agreement is signed in the presence of witnesses who could be called into court and properly notarized. Also, be wary of payment in stocks or stock options when you don't have control over company stock splits and dilutions.

2. Marketers - new businesses start up by the thousands on an ongoing basis. Marketers know this and some prey on new businesses. They'll show you in graphs and statistics and eloquent words how you can make mega-bucks by using their strategies. Far too often, it is the marketers who make the money, not the businesses they're marketing. They know you won't come back and they don't care.

Even legitimate businesses can accidentally trap you. Take for example, Google AdWords. Open your Internet browser and go to www.google.com and search for any popular search words like say, 'scuba diving trips'. Notice on the right hand side 'sponsored links'. These are companies who pay Google each time a user, like you, clicks their link. Watch the 'sponsored links' for a given set of keywords (ie. 'scuba diving trips') for 3 months or longer. See if the ads (companies) don't frequently change. If they do, Google made money, not the business who placed the ad.

Otherwise, their link would stay there. Don't misunderstand, Google AdWords can make you a lot of money if *you* know how to work the ads. Another example is email SPAM. How many times have you purchased something from an email advertisement? So, who do you think makes money from the endless onslaught of email SPAM? Usually, it's the companies doing the SPAMming and not the companies who they are supposedly trying to sell products for. In general, if you see *one* given company using the same advertising over and over, it's working. Otherwise, it's probably not. Of course a business that does no marketing is doomed to a dismal failure. However, don't be duped by fast talking advertisers. Quite often, they make the money, not you.

3. Lawsuits - it is a bad practice to enter contractual arrangements thinking that other parties will not violate the agreement just to keep from getting sued. Take a trip to your local County Records department (or look it up on the Internet) and see how many judgements are still outstanding after 10 years or more. You may be shocked to find that a judge's ruling that somebody owes you money does NOT guarantee that you will get it. A person can just disappear and the government will not give you privileged information to help you find them.

A corporation can withdraw all their money, file for bankruptcy, close their doors and reopen as a different corporation. Also, quite often you'll find that it may be more expensive to sue someone than to count your losses and walk away. Business dealers know this and use it. If I illegally conned you out of $150.00 would you sue me for it? Even if you could it probably wouldn't be to your advantage. Or what if a business offered a '30 Day Money Back Guarantee' and then didn't make good on it? That con is a classic. When making business deals don't count exclusively on legalities to keep you out of trouble. Make sure the other parties in the deal have genuine motives to stick to the agreement.

Being in business for yourself can be very liberating and quite lucrative. But business is about making money. Most of us believe that we can do better for ourselves by engaging in genuine commerce. That is, we provide a genuine product or service for a price at or near the monetary market value of the product or service that we provide. That's what we call a 'win win' situation. Both the provider and the purchaser end up pleased with the outcome of the deal.

However, there are business dealers who deem it entirely ethical to take whatever they can from you, whether legally or illegally as long as they don't get hurt. Always be wary of business dealings like this. Try to work, within reason, with people who have already proven their trustworthiness and always try to foresee every potential outcome of any business deal you intend to engage.

10 Tips How To Have Success In Your Home Based Business

null
With the cost of living quickly surpassing the wages (we make) necessary to maintain an “average” lifestyle, more and more employees are beginning to seriously consider the option of working from home.

Being your own boss, setting and keeping your own hours, keeping all (or most of the proceeds for yourself), saving on travel time and gas, allowing for as much vacation time as “necessary”, it all has its perks. It certainly seems that way, especially for many woman who may not want to stop working or can’t afford to, but also want to stay home with the kids or be home when they get back from school.

But, this growing trend, even with all its apparent benefits has many experts cautioning stay-at-home workers and warning them about the potential perils of home-based businesses due to common human error.

Some of the most common (and most damaging) include:
· Going In Blind: Sure you need confidence, guts and faith to start your own business, but you also need to know what your getting into, and that means diving FIRST into doing the necessary research about the type of business you are interested in starting. Experts suggest finding out as much as you can about your potential venture and about its potential for success in your area. Find out about your competition, note how much they are charging and pinpoint your target market. Rely on books, trade shows, conferences and the net to gather your materials and information.

· Becoming A Lone Venturer: Keep in mind that starting ANY business is difficult, especially in its initial stages. This is the most crucial time for you and your venture and you’ll need all the love and support you can get. One of the biggest mistakes, say experts that new entrepreneurs make is not getting the necessary support from spouse of family. Besides maybe helping with the housework or kids, he or she may also want to lend a hand in your business or at least lend support and encouragement as to work to get things going.

· Leaping Without A (Financial) Safety Net: Most of us are use to bringing home a specific amount of income (give or take) each week, an idea of having a “comfort” zone that most new business owners need to give up say experts. According to professionals, most new business owners won’t see a profit for several months. In fact, they suggest having at least six months (monetary) reserves on hand.

· Spreading Yourself Too Thin: While you certainly want to please the consumer and build your client base, it’s important to remember, that you won’t be able to please all of the people all of the time. They suggest not spreading yourself too thin by creating a mission statement for your business defining your purpose and your goals. Include what your business involves, what makes it stand out, and where you see yourself a few months to a year down the line. And, they add that you should make it a point to check your statement periodically and make all the necessary adjustments.

· Getting Too Comfortable: It’s easy to take advantage of being at home, especially when you don’t have to punch or Watch the clock. But, according to experts, sticking to a regular work schedule is imperative. Keep your schedule flexible (that’s what working from home is all about) but set limits and boundaries that will allow you to focus without any interruptions and be productive.

· Not Having A Space Of Your Own: For some a private office may not be feasible, especially if you’re a stay-at-home parent. But, according to experts, it’s imperative that you designate a specific space to conduct business. It is also important that you have all the necessary office essential to properly conduct your business. Sharing space and sometimes supplies is necessary, but you really should have your own for maximum efficiency.

· Selling Yourself Short: Want to beat your competition (price-wise) is a smart move, but seriously underbidding yourself and your worth may not be. Know what the competition is charging and make reasonable adjustments remaining firm and confident in what your product and ability…and always leave a little room for “play”.

· Putting Off The Paperwork: While most of us don’t enjoy the paper trail that often goes along with owning a business, it’s an essential part of operations, especially when it comes to keeping track of inventory and finances. Make sure to do all you shipping and receiving and related filing promptly, as well as sending out timely invoices. Keep in mind that most consumers take up to 90 days to pay, so you’ll need to bill them as soon as possible. And also, don’t forget to keep track of your own expenses to know what is coming in and what is going out.

· All Work And No Play: Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you never leave the house again. In fact, a very important part of any business is networking. So, think about maintaining your professional appearance and joining some professional organizations that can put you in touch with all the right people….and even though chat boards and blogs can offer you the same, making a personal appearance is ALWAYS a nice touch.

· Expecting Too Much: Considering working from home as anything but “work”. While you may have the freedom to make lots of your own decisions, you’ll also have a lot more responsibility, and that means learning how to manage your time (between work and career) like never before.

Home Based Business Is Your Ticket To Ultimate Freedom

Due to the hardships brought on by our country’s current economic situation, many people are looking to a Home-Based Business as a means of income. Job loss due to downsizing or other reasons, is motivating people to find alternate ways of supporting themselves and their families. A successful home-based business can afford you a comfortable lifestyle in regard to both working environment and monetary reward.

If you have decided you would like to start a home-based business, there are several issues that need to be thought-out and realized in terms of legality. You must consider the legal issues as well as your local zoning regulations, in addition to any restrictions on the use of your property for business purposes. Municipal policies determine what types of businesses can be run from your home.

These regulations vary by city, so you will want to do some research in this area. You can look up the regulations for your town by visiting the local zoning board or law library. You will also need to talk to an accountant or read information from the IRS on the issues of tax deductions regarding home businesses.

Another consideration is that many home-based businesses require state licenses for things like child care, auto repair and private investigation. After you have researched your town's regulations on home businesses, be sure to contact your local government office and ask about what agency, if any, regulates your planned business and what you need to do to obtain a license.

Avoid a costly mistake and look into obtaining business insurance. Your home-owners policy may not provide enough coverage especially for things like equipment damage and even client injury if you will be conducting meetings in your home.

Once you’ve got all of those issues satisfied, you should be thinking about the internal workings of your business. Staying organized requires a good deal of effort for some people, but it benefits you greatly in the long run. If you will be receiving and sending large amounts of mail and/or packages, it might be better to set up an external mail service. Then designate an area of your home to be used for sorting and also preparing out-going mail.

You don’t want to cover up your workspace with papers and boxes which may become misplaced and disorganized. A separate email account used solely for your business is another way to ensure consistent communication with your customers. Customer service is what will make or break your business so it is wise to stay on top of things within your devised system to ensure satisfaction and ultimately bring in repeat business.

Here is something that might interest you.

Choose To Be Successful In Your Home Based Business

Running a home based business is convenient and costs less but requires a great deal of time and energy to make it successful. When you make a decision to earn income from a home based business you will need to follow some basic steps and guidelines to be successful.

A business operated from home starts and ends with self-discipline. It is easy to give in to all the temptations that are present at home. Be it staying in bed longer on a cold morning, watching television, or surfing the web if you do not commit yourself to your home based enterprise, it will fail before it begins. No wonder 96% of the population that begins a home based business fails within the first few months. Self-discipline also applies to the basic day to day operation of your home business. As a home business owner if you do not see to record keeping, book keeping, marketing and other duties then your home business will eventually fail.

Another thing that can either make or break your home business is your attitude. Treat your home business like a business. This is critical whether you are working part-time or full-time. Always have a full-time attitude even when you are working part-time. Do not treat your home business like a hobby. Hobby attitude will produce hobby income. Have a business attitude and you will earn business income. Most people who decide to work from home end up working in their "spare time" and the business fails within few months if not days.

When operating a business from home make sure to create a space that you call your own, free from distractions for your scheduled time. Make sure to have a comfortable chair, an organized desk, and stationary supplies (pens, highlighters, stapler, hole puncher, sticky tape, note book(s), a simple filing system, manilla folders, etc.....). If your home business is an Internet business then consider the value of a broadband connection. Your time is valuable and a broadband connection will allow you to get more done in a given time frame.

Scheduling is the backbone of a home business. Develop a schedule that works for you, your family and business. Only work for your home business during the time you have scheduled for it. Do not do business work during the time you have alloted for other activities (family time, reading, exercise, leisure time, etc.) Your schedule is your "boss." Are you committed to your home business success? What will be your choice in situations, for example, when people calling you or dropping around unexpectedly or maybe out-of-town visitors may want to catch up with you? You are the person who decides what is important to you. Decide wisely.

Confindently and concisely describing your business in a few sentences is extremely powerful. Work on creating a short description which can easily be remembered by others so they can tell their family and friends about it. Remember word of mouth is very powerful.

Know your product or service "from the back of your hand" before you decide to market or sell it. Customers are interested in purchasing a quality product or service. Provide quality information about your product or service and you will definitely become a preferred supplier. Remember the product or service that you are marketing or selling may not be something you use yourself, it just needs to be something you believe in and know intimately. For example, women may choose to sell men's products (and vice versa) and still know the benefits and features to satisfy customers.

Be a good record keeper early on as you begin your home business. You will be glad in the long run and will sleep better too. You may need a tax advisor to consult about the best way to set up your financial records. Your advisor can also point out what records are important to keep. Also, you may obtain an advice on the best arrangement for your bank accounts. You should and will be advices to create a seperate bank account for your home business. If your home business is an Internet based business you may want to check out www.treepad.com and www.roboform.com to help you keep track of your logins, usernames and passwords. Both of these tools are very handy and can save you a lot of time.

Also, when operating a home business that is Internet based it is extremely important that you protect your computer and the data that is stored therein. You must invest in software(s) that provide virus protection, personal firewall, anti-spyware, anti-adware, and preferably an e-mail scanner.
Some recommendations are:

AVG Anti-Virus: http://www.grisoft.com
Spybot S&D: http://www.safer-networking.org
Microsoft Anti-Spyware: www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
Adaware: http://www.lavasoft.com/
Mailwasher Email Scanner: http://www.mailwasher.net.

Along with working hard it is important to work smart. Follow the advice above and you will surely succeed. "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."

How To Create a Home Based Internet Business

Making money on the internet by building a home based business starts with figuring out what your special, niche interest is. A niche interest is the one subject in which you consider yourself to be an expert. If you're lucky, you may be a relative expert in more than one thing. Are you especially good at fixing bikes? Do you know everything there is to know about collecting stamps? If you're interested in it, chances are, there are a slew of other people who are, too.

Your interest is the key to a successful home based internet business. If you don't care about what you're selling or the services you have to offer, then your heart won't be into your business. You must want more than just money to make a successful business. You have to be passionate in what you have to offer in order to communicate that passion to your customers.

After you've chosen your niche interest and a focus for your business – let's say, fixing bikes – now you need a turnkey Internet marketing system to create income for you. Where are you most likely to find people who will be interested in your site and the products you have to offer? Certainly, there are brick and mortar establishments like bike shops where people would see your advertisements, but for an online store, your marketing should focus on the Internet. Go where bike riders go – forums, blogs, chat rooms. Start your own blog. Be the place where those who want to fix their bikes or buy a new bike go to learn what they need, and then offer it to them.

To get high rankings in search engines and be the business that comes up as a resource when people search for terms that are associated with your chosen business, you have to continually provide fresh, new content that contains those keywords. This is part of why blogging is such a popular Internet marketing tool. Blogging requires you to post new information and observations pertaining to your business and industry regularly, even daily. This piles up the keywords for the search engine spiders to find and helps to raise you in the rankings.

All of this adds up to more traffic to your online home business, which means more customers, higher sales, and a better overall profit margin for you. Creating wealth online and making money on the Internet is as simple as finding the thing you are best at, creating a website for it, offering high quality products and services at a reasonable price, marketing those products where the advertising will be seen by those who need your product, and getting them to come to your online business website and see what you have to offer.

PaySpree - An Affiliate Network That Pays Instant Commission On Every Product

PaySpree - An Affiliate Network That Pays Instant Commission On Every Product

If you sell digital products online you are no doubt aware of the two most popular affiliate networks, ClickBank and PayDotCom.

While both of these are great and I highly recommend each of them, today I came across a brand new service that really caught my attention. It's called PaySpree and the reason it caught my attention is that ALL its members get paid for their sales instantly. And they can choose whether to be paid by PayPal, AlertPay or Credit Card.

Even affiliates get paid for their referred sales instantly.

I expect it to become quite a hit as the lure of 'instant commissions'  played a big part in the massive success of products such as 7DollarSecrets and the RapidActionProfits scripts. And PaySpree offers even more than what you get with those.

I've actually come across products for sale that are just lists of affiliate programs that pay instant paypal commission. And I've seen many threads in the various internet marketing forums asking about where to find instant commission affiliate programs. Now there is an entire site and marketplace dedicated to them.

As soon as you become a member you can start promoting any product in the marketplace, and you can add your own products so affiliates can promote them for you. All commission payments are handled automatically by PaySpree, it sounds like a winner to me.

I've just signed up and had a look around the site and it seems pretty simple and non cluttered, check it out at the link below and let me know what you think:

6 Simple Strategies To Get Free Advertising For Your Home Based Business

Here are 6 simple strategies for getting free advertising for your home based business. I have found them to be quite effective for my advertising needs.

Paying for advertising can get quite expensive and the object is to make money and keep it. Not to spend it all on advertising to make money.

Google +
If you are using Gmail you can open up a Google + page and add your business link to your profile page.

Amazon
On Amazon you can open up an account and add your profile. In your profile you can add a link to your business page or a website. Comment on different products and people will see you as an authority figure and check out your profile.

null
Traffic Exchanges
One of the traffic exchanges that I use is Traffic Swirle. This is to get free targeted traffic to your websites.

YouTube
YouTube is an excellent way to get free advertising for your business. Just make a video about your product or the services you provide.

Blogging
Blogging is an excellent way to let people find you on the Internet and learn about your products. With blogging you can do a blog post everyday or once a week. You do need to learn a little bit about blogging. You can learn some basic on my blog.

Comment on blogs
Commenting on other people blogs is a great way for people to notice you and become interested in what you are about. Your comment if done well will peak a person's curiosity about you and they will check you out.

Forums
There are literally hundreds of forums on anything you can think of. Join a few and comment on the tops they have. When you join there is usually a signature box below where you can leave your link to your business or website. Some of them even let you add a URL to your profile page.

Hope you find these 6 simple strategies to be very helpful. You see most people use these sites every day but don't realize that they can also be great free traffic for their home based business.

How To End Clutter And Make Your Home Based Business Organization Easier

So, your asking yourself what does home organization has to do with your home based business right?

Well, over the years I've spoken to quite a few people who say they have very nice clothes they love but they don't wear them anymore because they have their home based business and they don't go out as much as they use to.

But my question is this (and I am getting straight to the point): If you value something so much...then don't you think you should be wearing it?

The reality is we are a society who likes to accumulate and, dating back to the Great Depression, we tend to keep everything we believe has monetary value when, in reality, it really doesn't.

For example, a pretty dress or a nice suit you bought ten years ago went for what can be considered a lot of money.

And the problem is you haven't touched it in nine years because, as most clothes do, it went out of style.

Could it come back in style someday? Maybe. Styles do often return.

But this is not a reason to hold onto things you don't use..."just in case."

You feel like, because you spent "good" money on it, you are throwing money away. But ask yourself this... is it putting money in your pocket sitting there in the back of your closet with dust on the shoulders?

Is it giving you anything? Do you benefit at all from keeping outdated outfits?

Now ask yourself one more question... will you gain anything by getting rid of it and donating it to charity?

Of course you will!

The benefits?

More space to be able to keep the clothes you are going to wear (we only wear 50% of the clothes we own, by the way.)

I might even suggest buying a new outfit for every three to five you get rid of.

The purpose?

Because new clothes make people feel good. I don't recommend buying new clothes for the sake of buying new clothes and throwing away your money. But you've got to admit putting on a new pair of pants that make us look better is a nice, uplifting feeling.

The thing is the items taking up space, yes, you paid for them.

But by keeping something you no longer wear or use you are not getting anything in return but more clutter and a lack of storage space you could be using for something else for your home based business.

Here is something you should do right now with items (they don't have to be clothes) you are holding onto because you paid good money for them.

1. Go find ten items you own for one reason and one reason only... because you paid for it.
2. Grab a piece of paper and make three columns.
3. Write the items you are having trouble getting rid of in the left column. In the middle column, write "why I am keeping this item" and in the third column write "what will I gain by getting rid of this item."

My guess is you will have a lot more in the right column than you will in the middle.

Be specific with both.

If you can honestly fill up the middle column with more reasons of why you should keep it, and they are good, legitimate reasons, then maybe you shouldn't get rid of it.

But I'm willing to bet that won't be the case.

I've just finished doing this my own self and what a difference it makes having the space back again. Not to mention how much better it looks.

Are You Thinking Too Small And Dooming Your Home Based Business To Failure?

One problem that many home based business owners run into is simply thinking too small. I often have readers writing to me asking for helping getting their business ideas off the ground. I also often hear from folks who have run their home based businesses into the ground. There are five key areas where you can think too small -- and doom your business to failure.

Niche Too Small
Is your niche too small? Finding a small market to target with your business is key to success, but sometimes people narrow their niche too much. While doggy dental products could be a wonderful niche (as almost any dog owner can attest) you could even narrow your focus down to a certain type of dog (such as lap dogs) but going for one specific breed would be taking it too far.

Target Market Too Small
Is your target market too small? If you are looking only at one community or small geographic region then you may well doom your product to failure. It is far too easy to saturate a small market and it is far too easy for any marketing mistakes to end your campaign before it gets off the ground. In today's economy with the availability of global marketing you need to think big when you are planning your target market.

Budget Too Small
Is your budget too small? You don't need a million dollar advertising budget but you should have some seed money to get your business and its marketing campaign off the ground. It is possible to build a business from nothing but it is also a lot more difficult and you might find yourself making some mistakes that cost you a lot more down the road than putting a little money up front.

Schedule Too Small
Is your schedule too small? Do you have enough time to devote to your business?  Starting, running, and growing a business takes time. Some people get swept up in the planning and dreaming stages and never really start their business. Other people start before they have completely planned everything out and quickly get mired down by unexpected difficulties. While others do everything right in the planning and startup but once the business is running they get overwhelmed by day-to-day business and never think aobut ways to improve and grow their business.

Mind Too Small
Is your mind too small? You need to open up your mind's eye to continually seek new opportunities to find new customers, to find new potential partners, to find new ideas for products, and to find new opportunities for marketing. Flexibility and adaptability are key to surival in today's business climate and you always need to have new ideas cooking to grow and expand your market and your business. This means raising your head up out of the trenches once in a while. Yes, you might need to dodge the occasional missile lobbed your way but this is the only way to see those opportunities heading your way.

If you do your best to avoid these five not-so-small mistakes then you will be on your way to home based business success.

How To Expan Your Home Base Business

Home-based businesses that become successful may end up having to leave the home eventually for expansion. This can be a very hard decision to make for the owner. The idea of now spending more money to expand can be scary. One does not have many of the money sucking problems as the business owners of yesteryears. The really long leases, huge security deposits, renovations, and equipment costs are not that bad anymore.

There are many options today for the home business owner to get affordable and flexible space with out costing too much and having to sign a long-term agreement. When you go to a business center you will get that office with a desk but also can expect to have Internet and many other perks. So what are some of the benefits of a business office center?

* Convenient location in a high traffic areas
* Fully furnished offices and suites
* Individual Offices and/or Team Rooms
* Conference Rooms with services provided
* Business identity services or virtual offices
* Receptionist services
* Incredible phone and voice mail systems
* High speed Internet services
* Computer and networking support
* Copy, scanner, and fax systems
* LCD projectors
* Digital Camera
* Complementary coffee and water
* Convenient agreements that can range from 3 months to 5 years

There are top companies that specialize in these office centers all over the country. Corporations such as HQ Global Work Place, Corporate Suites, and SOS America offer these great services to those home business owners so they can broaden their horizons but not have to invest in more equipment or dismantle their home office space. This gives the owner the option of hiring others and still remaining at home if he or she so desires.

There are even some companies that offer rental by the day or hour. Depending on what type of office space and the amenities you want you are looking at anywhere from a few hundred to few thousand per month. It truly depends on the location, services, and the office size you need.

The majority of these companies also offer virtual space as well. This is a low cost method of being able to provide a more business like atmosphere to your home office. You would be able to meet clients in a space a few times per week instead of in your living room. This gives your business a more professional look with out spending lots of money on an office space. There are mail programs offered that provide you with an address so you can receive and deliver business packages and mail.

These virtual spaces also provide private offices and conference rooms. This will allow you to work from home primarily but meet with clients and get your mail at a business address to keep your home information private. Programs like this start at about $70 per month, which is extremely reasonable.

There are also the virtual office packages that give you the same perks as the mail program but also give you a phone number, voice mail, live receptionist during business hours plus call-screening, forwarding, and patching. This type of offer starts at about $190 per month and you get your business name listed in the lobby for free. This is great for small home business owners who want to keep their personal information private.
